Dutch installation contractor Montera Techniek B.V. (a subsidiary of HortiMaX) has been awarded a contract by tomato producer Gebr. Duijvestijn, based in the Dutch town of Pijnacker, to install all of the necessary electrics and additional pipework, and modify and upgrade its MultiMa computer for a geothermal energy system. This contract is directly related to another geothermal energy project that began earlier this year in Pijnacker.
When you think of South Korea, you don’t normally envision two ultra-modern glasshouse facilities specialising in sweet pepper production. Although these facilities may seem pretty unremarkable in most ways, they’re nonetheless unique since they’re the first glasshouses to be successfully heated by geothermal energy in South Korea.
In Antalya, on the Turkish Riviera so loved by holidaymakers, stands a large-scale glasshouse nursery called 3S-Tarim. VB (Verbakel-Bomkas) was the main contractor in charge of building this 2.7-hectare (6.7 acres) facility, which it completed at the end of 2009.
Hans Roosken has been appointed the new managing director of HortiMaX Holding B.V. as of January 2010. HortiMaX Holding B.V. consists of the HortiMaX offices in the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Great Britain and Spain, and Dutch installation contractor Montera Techniek B.V.. Hans Roosken will succeed Peter den Biesen, who has fulfilled the role of managing director since 31 March 2008.
This year marks HortiMaX’s 50th anniversary. To celebrate half a century of developing top-quality products for the glasshouse horticulture sector, Alfred Kooijman and Ben Jekel (two HortiMaX employees) have made a fascinating documentary on HortiMaX’s history and the story behind some of our most successful products, which have been sold to growers worldwide.
The Horti Fair 2009 will be held in the RAI building in Amsterdam from Tuesday 13 until Friday 16 October. You will find HortiMaX in Hall 6 at stand 06.0104. In 2009, we will be celebrating 50 years of service to the glasshouse horticulture sector. As you may know, HortiMaX was formed through the merger of various companies, the oldest of which was developing watering systems back in 1959. To mark our 50th anniversary, we will be organising activities throughout the year. We will, of course, keep you posted on these events.
HortiMaX recently commissioned a market survey to be conducted among 300 growers with businesses larger than 1ha. The aim of the survey was to find out how our image and name recognition compared to those of our 2 largest competitors. The participants in the survey were, for instance, asked to rate certain aspects of a number of climate computer brands on a scale of 1 to 5. These aspects included the computer’s ease of operation, its flexibility, its price, etc..
Industrial network
In cooperation with various suppliers, HortiMaX has designed an industrial wireless network for P-Plus which is particularly suitable for mobile applications in the horticultural sector.
